Cafe du Monde vs. Cafe Beignet – New Orleans, LA

What are they?:
Two beignet shops. What’s a beignet? It’s fried dough with powdered sugar on the outside. Like a doughnut but square and not doughy all the way through. A must eat when you’re in NOLA.

Bottom line: Go to both. If you’re short on time, do Cafe Beignet.
If you like beignets lighter/fluffier: Cafe Beignet
If you like beignets a little more doughy/dense and your coffee with chicory: Cafe Du Monde

Cafe Beignet: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars
PROS: Live music. More on their menu than just beignets.
CONS: Decatur location can get a little chilly on cold days.

Cafe Du Monde: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 💫 4.5/5 stars
PROS: Decatur location is open 24 hours a day. Great merch. Purchase it at the store across the street (Decatur location). Many drive through locations around the city and suburbs.
CONS: Decatur location almost always has a line. No entertainment. Menu is smaller than Cafe Beignets.

Cafe Beignet – Royal:
334 Royal Street
New Orleans, Louisiana

Pro-tip: The parking lot that is in between Cafe Du Monde and Jackson Brewery is the best place to park if you’re going to do the French Quarter at all. It’s reasonably priced for city parking (we averaged about $16 per visit and we were there most of the day) and it’s central to almost everything from Jackson Square, Bourbon, the French Quarter, Steamboat Natchez and the river. Great place to park to get to the Mardi Gras parades in the French Quarter too.
