What is it?:
An alcove behind Tampa’s Electric Company where manatees like to gather. There is a viewing area that is free.
GO – During the colder months, the manatees gather here en masse to get warm. The day we went, it was sunny but fairly cool in the mid 50s and we saw several dozen of them grouped together. They look like big boulders in the water until they lift up their heads or flap their tails!
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
Pros: Plenty of manatees to see, a long pier to walk down and enjoy the sunset if you’re there during that time of day, an educational area for the kids to learn all about manatees as well as a sting ray touch tank.
Cons: A bit of a drive if you’re on the west side of Tampa (it’s SE of the city).
10:00AM – 5:00PM November 1 through April 15.
In the complex. Free.
