Capilano Suspension Bridge – Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

What is it?:
A park within an old growth forest with multiple nature related activities, chiefly a suspension bridge across the Capilano River. The park there has other things to do, such as the cliff walk (think sky walk over a cliff), eco walks, treetop bridges and the largest collection of First Nations totem poles. More photos far below.

Bottom line:
GO! – It’s by no means cheap, but we spent the entire afternoon there and felt it was well worth the cost of admission. See below for tips.

Overall: 4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Pros: Lots to do – suspension bridge, tree top bridges, scavenger hunt and activities for the kids, cliff walk, food and entertainment
Cons: Crowded, which in and of itself is a con for some people, but for those who don’t mind the crowds may still count it as a con because with so many people, the bridge really sways when you walk across it. Also, the park is not wheel chair friendly.

Tips and Tidbits:
– The bridge is in an old growth forest with trees up to 1300+ years old. It is a temperate rain forest so be prepared for some rain and/or humidity.
– Not for the faint of heart or those scared of heights; the view from tree tops is well worth the hike though.
– There are two different activities the kids can do that are similar to the US’s Junior Ranger program. They will receive a certificate at the end.
– There is food and when we were there live entertainment in the form of a band near the general store. We got ice cream while there.
– If you plan to go to the hatchery next, be sure to use the washrooms at the park. The ones at the hatchery are YUCK.
